Streaking effortlessly across global time zones in luxurious executive jets makes conventional travel in cramped commercial airliners seem lumbering and dreary by comparison.

For almost 50 years, the Gulfstream name has been an icon of the exclusive world of these private jets, which most of us can only dream of inhabiting.

Despite its luxury cachet, this highclass environment also has a practical element, for even in the internet age there is no substitute for swift, comfortable global travel enabling executives to arrive on time for face-to-face meetings on the other side of the world, refreshed and ready for business

The recently-launched flagship of Gulfstream’s family of twin jets – the Gulfstream G650ER – provides all this in spades, and then some.

It’s the sister ship of the Gulfstream G650, the ER in its name standing for Extended Range – a capability proven in January 2015 when it completed the farthest flight in its history, travelling 14,835 kilometres nonstop from Singapore to Las Vegas in just over 14 hours.

Other city-pair records held by the G650ER include Ohio’s John Glenn Columbus International Airport to Shanghai’s Pudong International Airport, a distance of 12,501 kilometres, in 14 hours and 25 minutes; and Taipei Taoyuan International Airport to Arizona’s Scottsdale Airport, a distance of 11,377 kilometres, in 10 hours and 57 minutes.

This long-legged ability of zipping across international time zones with ease is achieved by the G650ER’s long range of 13,890 kilometres; a top speed just below the sound barrier at Mach 0.925; and maximum cruising altitude of 15,545 metres, way above the limits of commercial airliners.

When you talk to customers, what many of them need is more time, says Scott Neal, Gulfstream’s senior vice president Worldwide Sales. These records demonstrate the G650ER’s ability to give our customers just that. We know time is precious, and opportunities are best met when customers arrive quickly and refreshed.

Arriving refreshed means travelling in comfort, another strong suit of the G650ER which boasts aviation’s largest purpose-built business jet cabin, for stretching out in style.

On board amenities to make life in the air even more comfortable and productive include generously wide and plush seats, 16 large panoramic windows, an ultra-quiet cabin sound level, low atmospheric altitude and circulation of 100 percent fresh air.

Whether passengers choose to work or relax, they can be reassured that up front in the cockpit their pilots have some of the world’s most advanced avionics to speed them on their way, such as the PlaneView II flight deck, with a state-of-the-art Enhanced Vision System II and the Gulfstream Synthetic Vision-Primary Flight Display as standard equipment.
