After an absence of over five years Four Seasons is set to return to Bangkok with the Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at Chao Phraya River.

Rising above one of the city’s most iconic areas, the all-new Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at Chao Phraya River is a 3.6 hectare (9 acre) riverside oasis on Charoenkrung Road. Anticipated to open in late 2019, the Hotel has been assembling a team of senior executives and specialist talent headed by General Manager Lubosh Barta.

“The return of Four Seasons to Bangkok will be nothing short of spectacular, and there’s no one better to lead the team than Lubosh Barta,” says Rainer Stampfer, Four Seasons President, Hotel Operations – Asia Pacific.  “Lubosh was responsible for putting Four Seasons Hotel Seoul on the world map as the opening General Manager.  Prior to his time in Korea, he spent several years in Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Koh Samui.  His opening skill set and cultural familiarity with Thailand are matched by his leadership qualities and deep commitment to the vision of both Four Seasons and Country Group Development, our partners in Bangkok.”

The Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at Chao Phraya River is an architectural sight to behold, a series of cascading buildings conceived by architect and designer Jean-Michel Gathy set amid lushly landscaped courtyards, water features and gardens is flanked by the broad Chao Phraya River on one side and famed Charoenkrung Road on the other.  Its waterside setting seamlessly unifies the natural beauty of Thailand with both the historic and modern aspects of the city of Bangkok for an urban resort vibe. The Hotel features include 299 guest rooms including suites with garden terraces, an impressive two storey Presidential Suite; a world class culinary offering; a sophisticated spa highlighted by a unique spa suite with private vitality pool and indoor garden; two pools including an infinity pool with sweeping water views; a kids club with a river theme; and magnificently appointed events spaces including a waterfront grand ballroom with expansive outdoor terrace.  A modern art collection curated by Gathy will enhance the experience throughout public and private spaces, both indoors and outdoors.

The three restaurants will include a modern Italian concept inspired by villas on the shores of Lake Como with a seasonal menu, handmade pastas, authentic pizzas and Prosecco on tap; a high-style Chinese restaurant along the waterfront specialising in Cantonese cuisine that will also feature a central, a Lychee wood oven made especially for the Hotel and an open kitchen offering views of live culinary action; and a riverfront  French brasserie featuring an oyster bar, an extensive seafood offering and light French fare.

Three lounges and bars will include The Social Club, a signature bar reminiscent of Buenos Aires which also celebrates the lively energy of Bangkok.  Favourite Latin American cocktails and pre-prohibition era classics will be served alongside bespoke cocktails punchbowls, fine Champagnes and spirits; and a lobby lounge filled with light and generous space. “We have very ambitious goals for the food and beverage programme at Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok, and thus we have assembled some of the very brightest stars in the Four Seasons galaxy to lead our team,” says Lubosh.

Director of Food and Beverage Vishal Sanadhya began his Four Seasons career in 2006 and soon found himself taking on positions and task force assignment across Asia, from urban destinations to the paradise islands of the Maldives.  A self-proclaimed “gastro tourist,” he believes that in addition to its restaurants and bars, the new Four Seasons will provide the city’s best catering operation for corporate and social events.

Executive Chef Andrea Accordi returns to Thailand on the heels of leading the culinary team at Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong to an unprecedented eight Michelin Stars across three restaurants. The multi-lingual Italian native who joined Four Seasons 12 years ago in Prague is delighted to return to the country where he spent the formative years of his career, and where he also met his wife.

International mixology sensation Philip Bischoff is the Hotel’s Beverage Manager, with a special focus on the signature social club drinking experience.  Most recently behind the bar at the world-renowned Manhattan Bar in Singapore, he introduced myriad innovations that earned it the #1 position on Asia’s 50 Best Bars for two years running and among the top three World’s 50 Best Bars list.  The German native is also a Four Seasons Beverage Ambassador providing concept direction, mixology training and menu guidance to hotels in Asia Pacific.

The Wellness Centre is led by Senior Spa Director Sandie Johannessen. This will be a vibrant urban retreat with multi-dimensional therapies to target Mind, Body and Work: spiritual therapies will access and open the Mind, bespoke treatments will nurture the Body and fitness programs will enhance Work including Pilates and AntiGravity yoga sessions in an outdoor courtyard. Connecting the three streams brings positivity and new energy.  The all-encompassing Wellness Centre furthermore includes lifestyle experiences of salon and nail bar, advanced beauty room and a gentlemen’s barber shop.

Roll on 2020, because we for one cannot wait for the return of a hospitality legend to Bangkok.
