The Rose of the North in Bloom

The annual Chiang Mai Flower Festival will take place from 1-3 February. A celebration of the region's horticultural heritage, growers of exotic orchids and other flora showcase their finest at Nong Buak Haad Park. Marrying Northern Lanna Thai heritage and modern floral art, the other highlight of this festival is the over-the-top floats festooned with colourful flower arrangements which parade down the city streets on the second day of celebrations. These each bear contestants vying for the crown of Flower Festival Queen while dancers and musical performers fill the spaces between the floats and add to the pageantry.
