In almost every major city in Thailand you'll find a Chinatown. During Chinese New Year, these neighbourhoods come alive as Sino-Thais and an increasing number of Chinese visitors welcome the turning of the zodiac. In early February, celebrate the Year of the Pig with traditional dragon dances, cultural exhibitions and banquets countrywide. In Phuket, activities coincide with the annual Old Phuket Festival. Streets are decked out in red lanterns and traditional dance, food, music and art are on display. In Bangkok, the Yaowaraj neighbourhood will similarly come alive with firecrackers and celebrations.
