Are you a cocoholic?

Good news if you are, The St. Regis Bangkok is inviting guests to indulge in a new gastronomic delight, the Chocolate Tastemakers afternoon tea experience, designed by the hotel’s new Executive Pastry Chef Anupong “Aey” Nualchawee and available at The St. Regis Bar from 1 June – 31 July 2019.

The tradition of afternoon tea is a quintessential experience at The St. Regis, whose Mrs. Astor – the socialite mother of the brand’s founder – transformed the mid-19th century practice into an exclusive private social gathering for New York City’s elite.

We are delighted to welcome Chef Aey to The St. Regis Bangkok team, and this new afternoon tea perfectly showcases his culinary eloquence and creative flair, said Mr. Carl Chapman, Director of Food and Beverage.

The Chocolate Tastemakers afternoon tea reflect Chef Aey’s passion for chocolate confections. During his nine years in baking and pastry arts, the affable chef was also a finalist in a reality cooking TV competition seeking exciting new food personalities.

During the leisurely afternoon experience, a selection of handcrafted sweet and savory indulgences is presented in an exquisite silver bird cage. The three-tiered stand perfectly complements the panoramic verdant views of the Royal Bangkok Sports Club from the St. Regis Bar’s 12th story perch.

Decadent treats include the mushroom mille-feuille and the equally impeccable chicken liver parfait éclair with cocoa nibs. The traditional tea sandwich is reimagined as tuna veal baguette, while other savory nibbles include smoky eggplant puree cone accented with a refreshing lemon gel.

Colourful creations illustrate the new pastry chef’s mastery of culinary innovation, such as The St. Regis Siam Mary praline, a nod to the spicy Thai version of the brand’s signature Bloody Mary. Chocolate is featured in a number of menu items, including: single origin Madagascar with candied ginger, and mango and passionfruit chocolate bomb. The classic scone also gets the chocolate treatment in two variations: chunky chocolate scone and macadamia and white chocolate scone. A selection of premium tea or coffee enhances the timeless afternoon tea experience.

The Chocolate Tastemakers afternoon tea is priced at THB 1,500 ++ per set for two persons including tea or coffee. It is served from 1 June to 31 July 2019 at The St. Regis Bar on the 12th floor of The St. Regis Bangkok.
