Chinese New Year begins on 16 February and 2018 will be the Year of the Dog, according to the Chinese zodiac. In Chinese astrology each year is associated not just with an animal sign, but also one of the five elements; 2018 will be an Earth Dog year and its characteristic word is Action . The Chinese horoscope predicts this year will be eventful, marked by security concerns and the rise of social conservative elements within societies. It also says those born in Years of the Dog – 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982 and 1994 – will have a good, but exhausting year.
