November in southern Thailand and you are on the cusp of the next high season; when the rain stops, the humidity declines and cooler breezes waft in from the Indian Ocean.

This is the time of year on Phuket, when beach front establishments start gearing up for the high season with spectacular food and beverage promotions; the classic Sunday Brunch being the most popular.

Over the years we have reviewed many Sunday Brunch operations and it has often been difficult to find one which excels in all departments. Some have excellent seafood spreads, but fall down on the roast meat department. Others have enjoyable ambience and entertainment but fall down on the food choice.

Located on the northern end of Bang Tao Beach (known locally as Layan Beach) the Dream Beach Club has kicked-off its high season this November with a re-vamped culinary audacious Sunday Brunch. Available every Sunday, the event starts at noon and runs through to 4:00pm, with a huge buffet selection available, under cover in the air-conditioned dining hall.

The choice of food is staggering, and it's all of the highest quality. Oysters, sushi, salads, seafood, an excellent roast meat selection; there is even a Turkish kebab spit. The dessert counter and cheese board selections wont disappoint either.

It's an 'all you can eat' scenario, available at a under-2,000 ++ THB per person price tag. The advice is to get there early and take your time working through the wide variety of dishes on offer. If you want to enjoy some fine wines during the day, Dream Beach Club offers a 'free-flow' package for an additional 1,500 ++ THB.

One of the aspects we like about this brunch is that the dining hall ambience allows guests to engage in conversation, without being drowned out by DJ house music. The entertainment element at the Dream Beach Club is certainly there but it takes place outside, around the pool. The resident DJ spins music from a pulpit structure in the pool, while a saxophonist and bongo drummer enhance the music with some live accompaniment. Inside dining guests get to enjoy the beat from a manageable distance, with the option to take your plate outside to one of the shaded sun loungers if you want to be closer to the action.

A great friends and family weekend occasion, and don't forget, the whole experience is 'beach side', so the golden sand and azure waters of Layan Beach are totally accessible if you want a dip in the ocean.
